Glider hidden on the grass

For the first post of 2010, I want to share a photo of the Easyglider.
It had its maiden flight on a windy and hot spring afternoon.
And it handled exceptionally well taking into consideration the weather conditions.

Red Bull Air Race - Porto 2009

There is so much that could be said about this year's RBAR in Porto.
This intense weekend was a true airshow!

Even for a person who attended the previous years, this year had exciting and unexpected flights, such as (just to mention the cherry at the top of the cake) the Douglas DC-3 from Breitling and the Airbus A310 fom SATA.

Apart from that, the pilots were pushing their luck during the qualification rounds, which led to several disqualifications (due to pulling over the 12G limit) and to many penalties (due to pilon hits).

I had the luck to capture one of those hits with a borowed camera. There was no better moment to press the shutter :)

The longest building time at my hangar. But now it is ready to get airborn.

Photography

A few days ago I had one more opportunity to practice shooting photos. This time the subject was commercial airplanes rolling on the runway... Although it would be fun to see them rolling in the air ;)

Here is a recording of my participation in this year's Aeroindoor Povoa:

Mystic

Here is my latest acquisition and it's my first indoor airplane: Mystic from DONUTS-MODELS

There is only one word to describe it flying, Amazing! On my second session I was already doing lots of torque rolls, with rolls and more rolls and even more rolls without stopping.

RedBull Air Race

I have no words to comment on this day.

I could publish thousands of pictures and still they would not be enough to express the emotion of such an event!

Ok, here is one just to summarize it all:

FOUR ON FIVE

This was the best score I have ever seen!

Today I was flying in the Serra d'Arga airfield, when another pilot arrived.
He assembled his airplane and after some (usual) work his trainer got airborne.
15 seconds later, the engine shut off as it wasn't tunned properly. He tried an emergency landing but it crashed against a rock.
But the funniest thing of all were his words "five flights four planes destroyed!".

I've got no more words!

Ps: I've forgotten to take a picture! :S

F3P Competition - Santo Tirso IV

Among all, people from LAC and the special guest LUIS BERNARDOS.

F3P Competition - Santo Tirso III

Equipment used in electric flight:

F3P Competition - Santo Tirso II

One of the good things of this event was the exposition of ELECTRIC (and ONLY) Airplanes and Helicopters:

F3P Competition - Santo Tirso I

This will be the first of several post regarding this competition that took place in the indoor stadium of Santo Tirso. It was the first of this kind in portugal. Ccongratulations to the organisers, that, despite not being professionals, managed to do a very nice job.
This is a snapshot of the place:

Serra D'Arga Airfield

And at last, one of the pilots:

Serra D'Arga Airfield - MX12

First time I used my new MX12. If someone has the channel 80 shout out laud before you shoot me down!

Serra D'Arga Airfield - RIO

This airplane had to perform an emergency landing without any consequences. The elevator servo unglued from the fuselage.

Serra D'Arga Airfield - Roaster

This ugly looking electric airplane is a homemade trainer called Roaster. So far it has survived with only one crash (in his maiden flight, almost one year ago). And... Do you know what? It flies!
